"Why can't we be friends?" is the title and core question of the immortal jam.


According to our latest Axios/Generation Lab poll, the answer to that is "because of who you voted for in the 2020 presidential election."


Presidential politics has a long reach into non-political matters, but now, young people say voting for the opposing presidential candidate would - in many cases - preclude them from be-friending, dating, and working for certain people.
